Creativity and Transfer

Lately I have been thinking about creativity and transfer - these two seem to be closely related, partly talking about the same phenomenon. To put it briefly, creativity could be defined as making unexpected and new combinations of things we know or as wikipedia says it: discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts. Transfer (in Finnish oppimisen siirtovaikutus), on the other hand, is very central for learning, referring to situations where we use  something we have learnt earlier in one context, in a new different context. It means we are at the same time doing something new with our knowledge and information, something we have not been taught to do in the first place (says Greeno in one article)  Don't creativity and transfer have a lot in common?
